About this Book

The present book, written by the prolific and famous Iranologist Willem Flore, attempts to take a new look at the phenomenon of public food production and distribution and the role of governments in it through the establishment of the "Food Administration" and its branches, through various reports and notes, including manuscripts and reports of Belgian financial agents who were working in the fields of finance and public services in Iran at that time.
Although the mission of this book is not to provide a definitive and complete account of all the reasons and aspects of food shortages and famines, since for the first time, documents and records kept outside Iran and in government or private archives have been taken into consideration, it can be one of the most important sources for researchers in this field. The narrated accounts, which are mostly the result of referring to the reports and notes of "Molitor", unconsciously cause the meticulous researcher to look at some of the accounts narrated in historical books with more reflection and have better and more sources for historical judgments.
